Pre-Placement Class

The Pre-Placement class is specifically designed to enhance the skill levels of individuals who are unemployed or underemployed. The program focuses on the development of essential skills for the workplace. Job placement and self-sufficiency are the ultimate goals of this program. 

Adults (21+)

The Pre-Placement class is a 20-hour training program of lectures and interactive exchange. The objective is to empower job-seekers with the necessary pre-employment skills that will result in successful job placement and advancement.

The Pre-Placement class is the first step toward helping individuals with disabilities prepare for employment opportunities, offering a variety of interactive learning styles such as class discussions, computer activities, games, role-playing, worksheets and videos.  In these classes the participants will learn to apply skills essential to succeeding in educational settings and in the workplace. These transferable skills include, but are not limited to: 

  • Career planning and employability skills;

  • Job search assistance including the submission of job applications;

  • Setting goals and exploring careers;

  • Resume writing;

  • Interviewing techniques;

  • Brainstorming;

  • Employment seeking skills;

  • Basic computer skills;

  • Establishing priorities;

  • Decision making;

  • Developing time-management strategies;

  • Reviewing of employee salaries and benefits; 

  • Understanding conflict resolution in the workplace;  

  • Working on a team and/or with a culturally diverse workforce;

  • Utilizing and navigating public transportation;

  • Learning to access community resources.
